Still 18, still jobless, still finding out how coding works, but

The Wenger Years: An Infographic

You know how the President ages in an exponential manner over four years? Well, we need not look further than Arsene Wenger (or José Mourinho) to see that the day-to-day pressure of being a football manager has a very similar effect. Having been in charge for over 15 years at Arsenal, it’s incredible that Le Professor is still sane. The highs, though seemingly a distant memory, provided some unforgettable moments. But this infographic of Wenger’s life focuses on all the ups and downs Arsene has experienced, before and after creating a dynasty at Arsenal. [Via PP]

Cristiano Ronaldo troll-gazed the entire Rayo Vallecano squad by sending a no-look back heel with actual power past the defenders and the keeper for the only score in a 1-nil away win.

Mario Balotelli: take notes.

The Mönchengladbach way

Borussia Mönchengladbach are one of the biggest surprises in Europe this season. Facing relegation at the end of last year, manager Lucien Favre has done a remarkable job in instilling a brand new system in his players. The league table doesn’t lie, and Mönchengladbach sit in second place, above Bayern Munich and completely capable of snatching the Bundesliga title from Borussia Dortmund.

Favre’s new tactics have emulated Barcelona’s tiki-taka system full of triangular passing, with a more physical twist that adheres to the customs of German Fußball. Fans are fawning over the likes of Marco Reus and Marc-André ter Stegen, but ‘gladbach as a team have transformed into a real force that can compete with the very best, in Germany and beyond.

Milan destroyed Arsenal at the San Siro 4-0 in the first leg of their Champions League knockout stage thanks to an incredible volley by Kevin-Prince Boateng, a brace from Robinho — the first came off a brilliant pass by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who put the fourth in on a penalty. Arsenal’s defending looked absolutely horrific and they had three shots on goal at most, the first not troubling Christian Abbiati until, what, the 69th minute?

Nelson Mandela: The Liverpool FC Supporter
We had to dig deep for this one. It turns out the legendary South African human rights and anti-apartheid activist was able to meet Liverpool when the club was on tour in South Africa in the summer of 1994. Serving as the President of South Africa in ‘94, Mandela was proudly presented with a Reds shirt by John Barnes, the club’s captain.
In a 2003 interview with the FA, John Barnes admitted that he was lucky enough to spend three surreal hours talking with Mandela. Barnes said, “Even as a kid, I didn’t have heroes that I would chase for their autograph. But Mandela was different - he is the only man I have been properly in awe of… I am not ashamed to say I had my picture taken with him and it hangs proudly on my wall at home.” It was during those three hours that Mandela told Barnes that he was a fan of Liverpool FC.
The spark that led to a little research on the Mandela-Liverpool connection came from a “105 celebrity fans” article on Liverpool’s official website from 2003, which also includes the likes of Dr. Dre, Pope John Paul II, Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Elvis Costello, and Michael Schumacher…
